What is it?
Scientists call it MagnetoHydroDynamics. This rather impressive sounding word is the study of the effects of magnetic energy on fluids. Michael Faraday discovered that water flowing past a conductive material will generate a weak electrical charge. This discovery, that was made over 120 years ago, is the basis that we use today when treating water and other fluids with Magnetism. There are many principles at work in the phenomenon of MHD. Some of them we understand, while there are many others that we do not yet have any answers to.

The Basics
Water is one part oxygen and two parts hydrogen. These three atoms are bonded together by what is called a covalence bond. That means that the oxygen atom shares two of its electrons with the hydrogen atoms, one electron with each hydrogen atom. The hydrogen atoms each share their sole electron with the oxygen atom. This structure forms what is called a dipole molecule. This means that the molecule has a slight opposite charge on each end. Water is called the universal solvent because it will, given time, dissolve nearly all inorganic substances and many organic substances. Water's solvency is due in large part to the dipole molecule structure.Back to Top
What Does It All Mean?
As the water flows through the earth it is affected by the earth's natural magnetic field. The flowing water will dissolve and draw itself the mineral salts from the earth. These salts consist mainly of calcium and magnesium. The problem occurs most noticeably when we heat the water. As the water is heated it expands and the dissolved minerals crystallize on the surface of elements that are used to heat the water. Scale build up is the result of this crystallization process. The energy loss of trying to heat water through scale is substantial. A one-half inch thick layer of scale will retard heat transfer by up to 70%.Back to Top
What Can Magnetics Do?
In 1973 the U.S. Government identified a means of controlling the build-up of scale. Magnetism! A studv done for the Air Force concluded that magnetized water will not form scale on heating surfaces. Properly designed and installed magnetic units will prevent the formation of costly scale build-up.Back to Top
How Does It Work?
The kinetic energy to make it all happen comes from the motion of the water flowing through the magnetic field. As the water flows past the magnets, the molecules are aligned into a uniform directional field. Water regains it's solvency and will not allow the minerals to form hard crystals of scale. Further, the water will actually re-dissolve existing scale back into solution.Back to Top
What Will It Do For Fuel?
The results with fuel are similar in that the magnetic system will keep varnish from forming in injectors and carburetors, remove existing accumulations of carbon from the combustion chambers and valves. Magnetized fuel has a tendency to attract an oxygen molecule when it is mixed with air in the cylinder. This causes more of the fuel to be efficiently burned and produce more energy. This result is a slight increase in mileage and a reduction in hydrocarbon emissions. This can be verified by a hydrocarbon test that can be conducted at any state testing center. The benefit to the car owner is better fuel economy. The additional benefit to us all is a cleaner environment in that less fuel will be burned and what is burned will be less polluting.Back to Top
