The Franklin Tree
Ted Cook, Sullivan, MO

Ted Cook has a very unusual hobby - starting rare and exotic trees and plants from seed. This concerns a Franklin Tree, a deciduous tree which slowly grows to 10ft to 20 ft. (30 ft in the Southern US). It is a highly ornamental tree with fragrant blossoms that was discovered near Fort Barrington, GA by John Bartram in 1765, cultivated at his home in Philadelphia and shortly after, disappeared from the wild.

In spring 1998, Ted tried to start the Franklin tree from a seedling. Seed germination was moderately successful, with a growth rate estimated between 10% to 20%. For a time, the plants looked healthy, but by late June they began to turn red and brown, and by late July they were all dead. The problem appeared to be water quality. The plants irrigated from well water, in the area of Sullivan, MO, with its limestone formations, has a high Ph Level of 8.2. Ted used acidic fertilizers to reduce alkalinity, but they didn't help. Because the seeds cost $800 per half pound, Ted was desperate to find a solution.
In spring 1999, Ted again tried starting the seeds and ran into the same problems. Now he realized the problem might not be the alkalinity of the water itself, but the buildup of calcium salts in the soil. He had heard about magnetic technology, and over the July 4th weekend, he installed GMX units on the water line to the irrigation system.
Ted works 290 miles away from his home, so he did not see the seedlings again until Saturday, July 10th. To his surprise, most of the seedlings were completely green again. Nothing had been changed except treating the water with GMX units. The plants grew rapidly in the month that followed, each reaching an average of 20 inches in height. The leaves were much larger and the general appearances of the plants were very healthy.
Ted was unable to take photographs of the trees before the units were installed. He did, however, take a photo of three Carolina Allspice seedlings after a one-month experiment. The seedlings were from the same planting and all very similar in size and appearance at the experiment's start.
The two of the plants found on the left of the photo were the recipients of water treaated with GMX magnetics. The plant on the right continued to receive city water from Wetherby Lake, MO. As you can see, the two plants treated with GMX water are about twice the size of the other plant, with no difference in growing conditions except the water.
Ted sees tremendous benefit in using GMX units, particularly for commercial growers and plans to more fully document his own experiences.
